Nationality: You must be a citizen of India. Subjects of Nepal and Persons of Indian Origin from certain countries are also eligible, subject to a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.

Selection Process

Selection of Application: Integrated Headquarters of MoD (Army) reserves the right to shortlist af applications. They will then decide on a threshold percentage for all the engineering disciplines, and only those who fulfill this cut-off will be eligible to attend the second stage.

SSB Interview: The interview was conducted by the Services Selection Board. is a 5-day-long assessment. It consists of Psychological tests (like TAT), Group testing of Officer Tasks, and the personal interview. This stage measures your officer-like attributes, knowledge and personality.

Medical Examination: Medically fit candidates recommended by the SSB will go under a medical fitness test in military hospitals. You should medically fit according to the army rules, so that you can move forward.

Career and Pay : On successful completion of pre-commission training, candidates are granted Short Service Commission; on such as may be the service requirement, the short service commission may be further extendedGC(Gentlemen Cadet) shall retain his/her rank Lieutenant in the last held unit till due for promotion to independent charge ^ This pay includes Special Forces Allowance(SFA), Non-Practicing Officers Allowance (NPA), and General Officers ‘ (Godp). Starting level of pay starts from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 + allowances and other facilities as per the applying Post. As you progress and gain more experience and seniority, you can move up to the ranks of Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and further with more responsibilities as well as pay.

1. I am in the final year of my engineering degree. Can I apply for TGC 143?
Yes, final year engineering students can apply. However, you must be able to submit your final degree and mark sheets by a specified date after joining the academy. If you fail to do so, your candidature will be cancelled.
2. Is there any application fee for TGC 143?
No, the Indian Army does not charge any application fee for the TGC entry. The application process is completely free.
3. What happens after I am selected in the SSB interview and medical?
After you are recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, your name will be placed in a merit list. The final selection is based on this merit list and the number of vacancies available in your engineering stream. Successful candidates will then receive a joining letter for training at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
